First Communion Cake

Michela celebrated her First Holy Communion this month, and came to see us for a special cake.

We saw a photo of Michela’s beautiful gown – all white with white lace detailing on the bodice.

We created a cake for her that incorporated the lace from her dress, but we used pink for the lace to add a bit of colour.

How we did it:
We started with a strawberries and cream cake: vanilla sponge, our homemade pastry cream and fresh sliced strawberries. (yum!)
We iced the cake in buttercream, and then covered it with white fondant once the buttercream set.
Each lace piece was cut individually from a silicone lace mold, and we then brushed each lace piece with pearl luster dust to give it a bit of a shimmer.
We attached each lace fondant piece to the cake and then hand piped the lace webbing with royal icing. We also added pink candy dragees to mimic the look of pearl accents.

Michela chose her own cake topper – a Precious Moments topper of a little girl holding a rosary.

God Bless You, Michela! We hope you had a wonderful Communion day.
